Gala History

The Saint Cecilia Gala was designed to create an educational endowment fund of which 100% of the proceeds were used to support the educational programs of Saint Cecilia Church and School. The plan designates 10% for greatest need and 90% to be placed in the educational endowment fund to create a reliable source of annual income for education in the years to come.

 
2016

Over $137,000 was raised at the 11th Anniversary of the Gala. The Fund-a-Need auction item raised over $38,000 to be used to build a playground for our preschoolers, prayer books for Advent and Lent for the parish and to create a Catechesis of the Good Shepherd room. The Outstanding Volunteers Award went to Jessica and Matt Loecke and Susan Campbell was the Honorary Alumni.


 
2015

Over $124,000 was raised on the 10th Anniversary of the Gala. The Fund-a-Need auction item raised over $32,000 to be used for a new math curriculum, books to be distributed to the parish, a new cart for children's liturgy, a new stereo for youth ministry, and funds for a Catholic speaker. The Endowment Fund was also the recipient of two very generous estate gifts: Jim McDonald's estate left a gift of $211,000 to the fund and Irene Klingseis and her husband Paul left a gift of $150,000. The Outstanding Volunteer Award went to Terri and Tim Simodynes and Lois Vidimos was the Honorary Alumni.


 
2014

Over $130,000 was raised. The Fund-a-Need auction item raised over $30,000. This money will be used to update the Christian Peterson, “Madonna of the Schools” statue, building wi-fi, social hall projector, art supplies and  comprehensive reading program.


The Outstanding Volunteer Award went to Francine White. Art Teacher, Lisa Teske was given the Honorary Alumni Award.

 

2013
Over $125,000 was raised. The Fund-a-Need auction item raised over $39,000. This money was used to outfit the education center with new desks, tables, chairs, storage, and document readers.
 
The Saint Cecilia Gala passed a significant milestone in 2013.  In just 8 years, Gala raised over $1 million dollars for St. Cecilia’s educational and faith formation ministries.  That includes over $780,000 for the endowment funds, $86,000 for immediate needs, and $214,000 for special projects (Fund A Need).


2012
Over $120,000 was raised. The Fund-a-Need auction item raised over $32,000.  This money was used to support the purchase of new textbooks in the day school, materials for the pre-school, and bibles and workbooks for educational ministry programs.

The Outstanding Volunteer Award went to Diana and Matt Thatcher.  Jodi and Darryl Bennett were given the Honorary Alumni Award.


 

2011
Over $118,000 was raised. The Fund-a-Need auction item raised over $33,000.  This money was used for technology needs in the church and school including laptops for the day school and educational ministry, iPads, monitors, projectors, and the new digital information kiosk in the church narthex.

The Outstanding Volunteer Award went to John and Carol Nelson.  Joel and Michelle Thilges, Craig and Debbie Grandgennett, and Jerry and Amy Frankl were awarded the Honorary Alumni Award.


 

2010

Over $127,000 was raised. The Fund-a-Need auction item raised over $23,000. Money from this was spent on scholarships for Religious Education, new youth ministry teaching materials and a class trip for the Saint Cecilia Fifth Grade Class to the Grotto of the Redemption, to name a few.

 

The Outstanding Volunteer Award went to Scott Walker. Fr, Dismas Veeneman was awarded the Honorary Alumnus Award.

 


 

2009

Over $163,000 was raised. Immediate need funds for 2009 totaled over $13,000 and prior year Gala's endowment proceeds totaled an additional $17,000 in funds and provided revenues to assist with new carpet and tile installation, textbooks, instructional materials, and playground fencing.

 

Fund-a-Need raised over $32,500. A portion was spent on playground equipment and a prayer garden pathway.

 

The Outstanding Volunteer Award went to Priscilla & Richard Matt. Duane Siepker was awarded the Honorary Alumnus Award.

 


 

2008

Over $193,000 was raised. Immediate need funds were used for a public address system, lunch tables, carpet, and a contingency fund, all for the Education Center.

 

Fund-a-Need raised over $48,000. This was used to purchase eleven 46-inch high definition LCD TV sets, a dozen MacBook laptop computers, and 22 wireless electronic slates, all used to support our SMART technology efforts in the Education Center.

 

The Outstanding Volunteer Award went to Todd & Johna Clancy. William Burke was awarded the Honorary Alumnus Award.

 


 

2007

Over $115,000 was raised. Immediate need funds were earmarked for youth ministry programs, technology enhancements, and facility renovations for classroom expansion.

 

The Distinguished Alumna Award went to Michelle Thilges and John Kleinschmidt was awarded the Honorary Alumnus Award.

 


 

2006

Over $116,000 was raised. Immediate needs that were met included a security and surveillance system for the front entrance of the school, computer hardware, science textbooks, religious education materials, and playground equipment.

 

The Distinguished Alumnus Award went to Michael Vaclav and Shari Hammer was awarded the Honorary Alumna Award.
